Bathroom Remodel Finals

Final Pictures for those who haven't come to visit...yet.

A most wonderful shower experience...

Notice the little niche in the wall to hold bottles of all kinds.

An amazing transformation from what it was, take a look at this previous post.

Here is my ingenious husbands work of this past Saturday, no one would ever know it if we didn't put it on the blog:) Medicine is now hidden!

Bathroom Renovation

Our bathroom renovation has been long in coming but just take a look at the difference!

Before...remember the toilet was behind the door, people often would open the door and ask where the toilet was.
That space is now a very large much needed closet, yet to be filled.
Doing what I do best in the realm of home renovations.

Before...

and afterOur wonderful dual flush toilet.

Child potty seat built right into the toilet seat. Its magnetic so when you lift up the lid child seat stays with the lid. Great idea...much thanks to whoever invented it!
Here the kids are having there first try on the new potty seat!
And here is a picture looking the other way toward the door, the door would be to the very right of the picture as you see in the mirror.
Phil did a great job in tiling the floor... his next challenge is the shower, pictures will come when its done.

Dad is hooking up the sink with two excited grandchildren in his lap.

I need motivation to finish...

Here are a few pictures of the pantry cabinet that my Mom made. It is taking me quite a while to finish it but here is some progress.
As you see in this close up, my goal is to have it distressed and roughed up a little.

Since these pictures the bottom piece has been painted with the first coat of black paint.

Grandma & Grandpa Moo's visit

My Mom & Dad, (lovingly called Mama Moo and Popop) were here for a few days...Silas could hardly contain his excitement. Here he is waiting by the window for their car.

We had the NJ gang over for dinner with G&G Debel.
Could have been 4 generation picture if I was there

Cute little Eric
Now, besides coming to see us, the other reason my parents came out was to put together the pantry cabinet my Mom made for me. It took every spare moment of our time to get it up before Thursday. It was well worth it! This is just the bare shelves. It started out as just a passing comment, "oh Mom you can make something for me" but she took it seriously. So I drew a picture of what I had in mind, and she was up for the challenge! We had many things to figure out as we went, in order to make it all work out but we now have the finished product!
Now the painting and staining is in my hands...someday you will see it completely finished!
Thank you Mom! I can just see the canning jars all lined up come fall!!!

Refinishing Hardwood Floors

Silas waiting for the transformation.

The U-Sand sander rental from HD works great ... it just takes hours and hours!!
Tired Rebecca ... after sanding late into the night.

Dining room floor with first layer of stain Minwax "Gunstock" which we thought was too red/orange.

Applying the second layer of stain Minwax "Early American" made it just right ... you can see the old color in the foreground.

The next two pictures are after the first coat of poly.
Minwax High Build Gloss. Don't use this brand of poly.

Last two pictures are the Final Product ... After two coats of Parks ProFinisher Satin.
(it is lighter than it looks)

Tedious work but we are very happy with the results.
